  • The Department of Sociology at the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMB) invites qualified persons to apply for a tenure-track assistant professor position to join our faculty beginning September 1, 2026. Candidates should have demonstrated research and teaching strengths in the sociology of gender/sexualities with a preference for candidates who can teach Queer Theory/Methods. Candidates who are able to teach a first-year course for sociology majors requiring qualitative methods preferred. Candidates should have an emerging/established research program with the potential to generate external funding, a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring, the capacity to expand diversity initiatives on campus, and enhance the university's commitment to public service.

  • Louisiana Tech University seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor of Sociology. Tenure track, nine-month position. Starting date: September 1, 2026. We seek applicants with evidence of successful teaching and scholarship in criminology or a closely related field to support our sociology undergraduate program and forensic psychology certificate. Specialization in a field of digital criminology (e.g., social media crime, cybercrime, online victimization, online communities) is a plus. The successful candidate will join a vibrant academic unit that prioritizes interdisciplinary teaching and research collaboration between the humanities and social sciences. The candidate will have the opportunity to teach existing elective criminology courses within the sociology major (e.g., Juvenile Delinquency, Sociology of Deviance, Introduction to Criminal Justice), as well as Research Methods and Introduction to Sociology. In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a new interdisciplinary media studies graduate program. The normal teaching load is three courses per quarter. A strong commitment to exemplary teaching at the undergraduate level, scholarship/research activity, and good interpersonal and collegial skills are expected.
  • LEHIGH UNIVERSITY-The Department of Sociology & Anthropology is seeking to fill the position of Lucy G. Moses Endowed Chair Distinguished Professor of Sociology at the rank of full professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. While the area of specialization is open, we are looking for a candidate who will complement our department's existing strengths; potential interest(s) include, but are not limited to, social and cultural change, inequality, migration, environment, civil society, and/or population. Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in Sociology. The selected candidate is expected to carry a standard teaching load of 2/2, maintain an active program of research, and engage in university and departmental service commensurate with their seniority.
  • The USC Sol Price School of Public Policy and the USC Schaeffer Institute for Public Policy & Government Service is seeking a dedicated and innovative Research Assistant Professor of Health Policy & Management who will enhance our scholarly mission and advance health care policy.  The candidate will have the opportunity to work within a dynamic team at the USC Schaeffer Center, leveraging resources to increase research capacity in studying health care policy through both new and existing research efforts. The position is primarily funded through contracts and grants, with partial research support provided by core funds from the Schaeffer Institute.   • Pennsylvania State University seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor of Rural Sociology. This is a nine-month, tenure-track position in rural sociology at the assistant or associate professor level with a 60% research and 40% teaching responsibility. Teaching expectations will be three courses per year in the Rural Sociology graduate program and the Community, Environment, and Development undergraduate program, with the possibility of teaching contributions to the Community and Economic Development online master's program. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally and internationally recognized research program focused on population health, rural health, health disparities, and/or population aging. Candidates giving attention to spatial disparities or dimensions of these issues are encouraged to apply, though it is not a requirement. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop a robust publication record, secure external funding, and advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. This position is co-funded by Penn State's Social Science Research Institute (SSRI).   • The Department of Sociology at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit, Catholic university, seeks applicants for Quarterly Lecturer (non-tenure track) positions to teach courses in Community and Society, Introduction to Sociology, and International and Global Sociology, Law and Society, among other potential openings. Specific assignments will be made according to the academic qualifications of the individual and programmatic need. Santa Clara University is on the quarter system, and the quarters are 10 weeks long with an 11th week for final examinations. This is an applicant pool; as such, positions are hired as needed. The successful candidate will teach no more than 2 courses in any quarter and no more than four courses over the fall, winter and spring quarters. All classes will be presented in- person, however, if the county health and university health conditions deteriorate, the successful candidate may be asked to teach part of the course online.

We seek an accomplished scientist with a strong record of scholarly excellence, a collaborative research agenda, and a commitment to teaching and mentoring the next generation of public health leaders. We are particularly interested in candidates with advanced methodological expertise in the analysis of complex population or health care data, causal inference methods, or the use of innovative data sources such as social media and digital trace data.   • The Institute for Social Research (ISR) at the University of Michigan invites applications for an Associate Research Scientist in its Survey Research Center (SRC). The Associate Research Scientist will serve as a survey methodologist for the National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS) and National Study of Caregiving (NSOC) and collaborate on externally funded projects related to aging, disability, dementia, and care.
