This dataset, collected by Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), is the world’s largest household panel survey; it interviews over 236,000 households (and all members) three times a year since the panel was started in 2014. As of May 2023, the 29th wave is currently being collected. The dataset consists of 4 modules:
- People Of India — demographic/employment, time use, financial assets
- Aspirational India — assets, perceptions, expectations
- Income Pyramids — household/member income
- Consumption Pyramids — monthly/weekly expenses
Duke users will have access to all waves of data collected (starting in 2014) until the end of the current subscription period, May 2023.
Instructions for accessing the data are available here. If you have questions about the data, please contact Manoj Mohanan.
